Masquerade....

 Every year for the last seven or eight years, one of our dear friends has put on a beautiful summer Masquerade. Here are a few pictures of our evening.

 The above photos were taken at home before heading to the party. Unfortunately, we took very few at the party because our little guy did not enjoy the masks and costumes, noise and lights. (The fact that he hadn't napped didn't help). Anyway, Oliver and I migrated in and out, but mostly out, of the party.

Outside the setting was very magical, as it always is. The mist blew in and made the lit trees seem to glow with golden twinkle lights and bright colored paper lanterns.  Oliver was fascinated by the lights...

 So fascinated, he wanted to pull them off the tree, and then probably eat them, but we stopped him before he got to that part. 

 I love the paper lantern lights... even though my photos didn't turn out as well as I would have liked, they give you a taste for the festive color and magical quality they gave the evening.

We didn't stay till the midnight carriages came to take the other guests away. We took our little guy home to get some much needed rest.
