Tolay Lake Fall Festival

This last weekend, we took a break from projects around here (to be more precise- I mean the only project since May- our vintage trailer) and went to the Tolay Lake Fall Festival. We found out that we could get in for free with our parks pass, so we decided to check it out and see what it was like. It was certainly worth the drive! It was more than just a basic pumpkin patch. The kids loved it! In addition to the pumpkins, they had heritage crafts, animals to see, and a whole barn full of nightlife creatures (the highlight according to Oliver). There were snakes and spiders, lizards, bats, an owl and raven and an entire display of local wildlife. These animals were 'already dead' but were 'alive once a wong time ago' according to Oliver, who found them quite fascinating.

We enjoyed our time there and I hope you enjoy our photos!
Looking at the goats...

 Lily loves the animals!

Exploring the wigwams on the hillside...

Each child had a Challenge Booklet which they were able to fill with stamps as they made their way around the festival. Oliver enjoyed stamping his himself, and meticulously closed each ink pad when he finished so that it wouldn't dry out.

 He's got it upside down!!

A little critter in the hay bales!

 Making a corn husk doll!

Learning how to hand card wool and twist into yarn...

 Our little cowgirl and cowboy!

Oliver is showing me how bouncy the trot is.

Lily's favorite part of the hay maze was the tunnel!

We enjoyed the tractor pulled hay wagons out to the pumpkin patch! It was such a fun ride !

  Picking out pumpkins!

Those ones over there look good!

 Lily really likes the pumpkins.

Some pumpkin sitting before we head home.

We really enjoyed the fall festival and will definitely be going back again in coming years!
